WELCOME TO FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS

We hope you will feel welcome at First Presbyterian Church, Springdale. We are a congregation that offers Christian care for one another and for those in our community.

VISITORS

You are welcome at First Presbyterian Church Springdale! Greeters are often the first point of contact for a visitor to our church. They are available to answer any questions you may have and help make you feel welcome and comfortable in our worship services. They ask visitors to sign in on the Visitor Guest Book (or on information sheets) so we may follow up with you, and they give first-time visitors a small gift including information about our church.

NEW MEMBER WELCOME

New members will be paired with a member of the church who will serve as a connection to our church, a friend, and a source of information. We know new members have varying interests and time for involvement in church activities. We want new members to know what is available to them in our church family so you can feel comfortable trying some activities and involvement.

PRAYER CHAIN

When members and friends of our congregation experience illness, the loss of a loved one, or other difficult circumstances, many in our congregation have committed to pray on their behalf.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER

First, tell the pastor or a Session member that you are interested in joining our church family, that you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and if you haven’t been baptized before, you wish to be baptized. If you have ever been baptized, you do not need to be baptized again.

The pastor will then counsel with you about the meaning of baptism and church membership. We take baptism and membership as very serious personal commitments.

You will then meet with the Session, which is the elected governing body of the local church. They will ask you to tell about your belief in Christ. It will be a low-key, friendly meeting. They will then accept you for baptism, if needed, and membership.

During one of the worship services, you will be introduced, and the congregation will be asked to commit to accepting you as a brother or sister in Christ. You may be asked to come forward and answer questions which you will have discussed beforehand.

If you have not been baptized, you will come to the front of the church and kneel. The minister will baptize you by placing a small amount of water on your head. The pastor will then place a hand on your head and pray for you as a new Christian and a new member.

If you are transferring your membership from another church, our pastor will instruct you on the process.
